One of my favorite parts of living in LA is all of the amazing restaurants in the area. Throughout this semester I have done my fair share of food exploring and have discovered some places that I want to share with all of you. I am planning on turning this into a series that I will add to as my ventures continue, always in search of the best chocolate chip pancakes (my favorite thing in the world) and beyond. Here are three of my favorite places to kick things off.
Malibu Farm
Malibu Farm is a cute café over the ocean at the end of Malibu Pier. Their motto is “Fresh. Organic. Local.” Their ingredients are locally grown and the delicious menu makes it hard to choose. I ordered the grilled cheese panini on country wheat and it was one of the cheesiest and best grilled cheeses I have ever had, which is saying a lot, seeing as I have a grilled cheese obsession.
800 Degrees
My friend calls this “The Chipotle of pizza” because you get to build your own pizza from dough to toppings. Their fresh ingredients and wood fired stove make their concept simple but so perfectly executed. I usually get Neapolitan crust, Margarita base, and add chicken, bacon, and fontina cheese. It is probably my favorite pizza place I have tried.
M Street Kitchen
M Street Kitchen is a restaurant and bakery in Santa Monica, and is the best for brunch. I will eat breakfast food at any time of day and on the weekends they serve brunch until 4, thankfully. When my friend and I went, we each ordered an omelette and split chocolate chip pancakes and the housemade English muffins. I have high breakfast expectations and it was soooo good. We also stopped at their cute bakery and got some cookies to go.
