We have reached that time of year again… Whether you have been hibernating in your room or out facing the cold, our beauty routines could likely use a pick-me-up. Here are five of my favorite products to liven up winter skin and hair.
1. Bumble and bumble Thickening Full Form Mousse
I have very thin hair to begin with, but it has been extra flat and just generally blah this winter. I massage this mousse into wet hair after I shower, beginning at the roots, and blow dry with a round brush. It gives your hair volume, hold, and makes any hairstyle look a whole lot better.
2. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum
This serum is technically an anti-aging treatment, but I swear it is a miracle worker for any skin issue. I use it nightly before my moisturizer and have found it clears breakouts, fades acne scarring, and leaves skin feeling smooth and balanced. Do not be scared off by the fact that it is an oil; I have oily skin and this product works wonders on any skin type. If you have noticed that your skin is dry, dull, or problematic in general, this is your new best friend.
3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
My friend got me this palette for Christmas and I nearly screamed when I opened it. This blush trio is a makeup-lover’s dream and I have hardly put it down since I got it. I sweep the pink shade on the far left on the apples of the cheeks for a natural rosy flush and it leaves skin looking healthy and glowing.
4. Rosy Lips
Continuing on the rosy front (maybe because I love everything rose or because I think it is the perfect winter shade), I chose two lip products I love for this time of year. If you are looking for a gloss, go for the YSL Glossy Stain in 103 Pink Taboo. I discovered this product last spring and I am still obsessed. It has the lasting power of a stain and stays glossy all day long without being sticky. If you are more of a matte-lover, I recommend the Bite Beauty Matte Cream Lip Crayon in Sucre. Layer this on like a lipstick for a bold color or use your finger to smudge it on for a your-lips-but-better look.
5. Soap & Glory Hand Food
One of the worst parts of winter skin is dry, cracked hands. In years past, my hands have gotten so dry in the cold they have started bleeding (gross, I know). This hand lotion cures the worst dry hands and smells nice but subtle. I use this religiously every night before I get in bed and my hands love it.
Sometimes it is easy to forget that it’s winter in LA (especially with the 70 degree weather), but no matter where you live, hopefully you find some of these helpful.

Where can I purchase the Soap and Glory Hand Food?

Thank you! That and most of the other products can be found at Sephora.

Great products! I’ve been reading rave reviews on the Hourglass Blush Palette all month – I’ve got to try it out for myself. Do you think the colors would look flattering on someone with pale skin? I ask because most blushes overpower me and make me look a bit clown-ish.

Thanks Christie! I definitely think the colors work on any skin tone; they are very buildable and can be worn sheer for a natural glow, or layered for a more noticeable flush. I think it’s worth the buy!
